One woman has set up the Montreal Ice Storm 98 Reporting Site to report on the atrocious ice storms affecting Canada, and to raise funds.
Her site includes an online appeal for help on behalf of various relief organisations and a secure donation facility has been established. This is a fine example of what volunteer efforts can achieve online, especially when the nonprofit organisations themselves are less adventurous in using the Internet.
