The Consumers’ Association has won the Charities Award in the New Media Age Effectiveness Awards 2003.

The organisation won for its endowmentaction.co.uk campaign implemented by agency Green Cathedral. “This is a good example of what other charities should be doing,” said the judges. “The CA has managed to explain complex information in a way that’s accessible to all.”

Comic Relief was highly commended for its Sport Relief Total Ticket campaign, working with agency Flytxt. This campaign paved the way for the charity’s use of SMS in other fundraising activities. Sports fans were invited to answer a sport-related question via premium-rate SMS or by calling a premium rate phone line. The judges said it was “ahead of the game and a campaign that moves charities forward in how they go about raising donations.”
