Comic Relief and BBC Sport have confirmed that Sport Relief 2004 will take place on the weekend of 10-11 July 2004.

The theme for Sport Relief 2004 has been inspired by the 50th anniversary of Roger Bannister’s sub 4-minute mile: it will be
organising a series of mile-themed events across the UK suitable for everyone to take part.

Kevin Cahill, Chief Executive, Comic Relief, said: “Following the success of
the inaugural Sport Relief we just had to hold this event again. The response from the UK public was astonishing. Sports enthusiasts at all levels from professional, local, regional and national sporting events took part. Every conceivable sport was played from bog snorkelling to football in
an attempt to raise funds for children and young people leading unimaginably tough lives, here in the UK and across the world.”
