Red Cross and Christmas 'ban' in shops story resurfaces

Christmas is a-coming so it’s time for the story about the Red Cross “banning Christmas” to appear again.
Last year the British Red Cross was accused of “banning Christmas” after some shop volunteers complained they had been asked by managers to remove a nativity scene from a window. In fact, as chief executive Sir Nicholas Young told the BBC in December 2003, it has always been the organisation’s policy not to display materials of an “overtly religious nature” in shop windows.
But the story has been resurrected this year by Ananova.com and Ipswich’s Evening Star.
