Lord Archer aims for marathon fundraising record

Disgraced peer Lord Archer is aiming to run in next year’s London Marathon and raise £1 for every inch of the course, a total of £1.66m.

The current world record for fundraising in a marathon event is held by P Diddy, the American rap musician, who raised £1.19m in the 2003 New York Marathon.

One of the charities likely to benefit from Archer’s run will be the British Heart Foundation.
