Survey finds that best-paid workers would give less to charity

A survey by HR outsourcing company Black Mountain Group reports that just 2% of UK workers would donate to charity if given a £100,000 bonus.

The larger the bonus UK workers get, the less of it they would give to charity, is the message from the survey. The research found that the majority of the UK’s
best-paid workers may be prepared to give little more than small change to charity.

The survey found that, if awarded a £5,000 bonus, 29% of respondents
would donate a portion to charity. However, this figure fell to 21% if they were awarded a £50,000 bonus, and alarmingly just 2% if given a £100,000 bonus.

What would those awarded £100,000 do with the cash? Almost half would save or invest the money, with 15% of those investing into
property. Of the less conservative types, 27% would use it to pay for the holiday of a lifetime, 15% would buy a car and 11% would spend it on other consumer items.

The research was conducted on-line and polled over 100 executives from a range of UK companies.
