Discard motorway toll change goes to hospice

Howard Lake | 9 March 2005 | News

St Giles Hospice in Whittington, near Lichfield has received £2,415 – thanks to discarded coins collected from the M6 Toll road.

Coins are retrieved by the toll assistants when drivers leave coins in the reject trays or on the ground after missing the toll collection baskets or throwing in one, two and five pence pieces which are not accepted in payment at the automatic toll booths.
