Peacocks wins prestigious award from Cancer Research UK

Howard Lake | 8 June 2006 | Newswire

PEACOCKS, one of the UK’s leading High Street stores, has finished an incredibly successful year supporting Cancer Research UK by winning the charity’s Flame of Hope award for Business Supporter of the Year.
The award recognises the huge contribution Peacocks has made to Cancer Research UK through extensive in-store promotions, colleague fundraising, and incredible customer support.
Tim Bettley, Peacocks Managing Director, said: In recognition of our colleagues and customers fundraising achievements, we are delighted to receive this award from Cancer Research UK. We are now in the second year of the partnership and with the activities we have planned during 2006 we are confident of continuing with our fundraising achievements”.
Amongst other fundraising activities, Peacocks will again be backing Cancer Research UK’s ‘All Join Together’ campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness by selling a specially created collection of fashionable pink clothing and accessories, with a percentage of all sales going to the charity. All of these exclusive items will be available through Peacocks’ 425+ stores nationwide from mid-September.
Sarah Lyness, Executive Co-Director of Fundraising for Cancer Research UK, added: I’d like to thank Peacocks’ colleagues and customers for raising such a fantastic amount towards our world-class research into beating cancer and, of course, offer my congratulations to Peacocks on the award. After such a great start to the partnership everyone involved has high hopes for 2006.”
