Vodafone UK publishes third corporate responsibility report

Vodafone UK has published its third corporate responsibility report, which highlights the fact that it has donated over £7.82 million to charity in one year.

In 2005/06, over £5.39 million of the amount donated to charity was given through the Vodafone UK Foudnation.

The year was the second in a three-year partnership with the National Austistic Society. Employees and customers raised or donated £230,000 to the charity, in addition to £578,000 generated for it by the company’s handset recycling scheme.

As well as the charitable donations, Vodafone UK collecting over 200,000 handesets for recycling, with a target to collect 250,000 in 2006/06.

Vodafone reports that its employees gave £239,703 to charities via payroll giving during 2005/06, and the company received a silver Payroll Giving Quality Mark from the Institute of Fundraising.

The Vodafone UK Foundation matches funds raised by employees up to £500. In 2005/06 employees raised £1.2 million through 925 events. The Foundation gave £842,000 in matched funding.

The foundation recognises employee volunteers and fundraisers through its UK Foundation Community Awards. All eligible employees receive a £50 donation for their chosen charity.
