New version of 'Brothers in Arms' to raise funds for Falklands veterans

Musician Mark Knopfler has recorded a new version of his single ‘Brothers in Arms’ to make the 25th anniversary of the Falklands conflict and to raise funds for SAMA82 (The South Atlantic Medal Association), a charity supporting veterans wanting to return to the islands.
All the money from record sales will go to SAMA82. Universal Music and Mercury Records have agreed to forgo their royalties on this release.
The new version of ‘Brothers in Arms’ is a ‘live’ version recorded in one take for the BBC at Abbey Road. Mark Knopfler said: “I’m touched that my song ‘Brothers In Arms’, which I wrote at the time of the Falklands war, has been chosen to support the many veterans who are still suffering from the effects of that conflict.”

The record will be released in the UK on the 29 May 2007, the 25th anniversary of the battle at Goose Green.
