International questionnaire launched on 'social finance'

Natasha van Bentum, CFRE, of Victoria Symphony and author of VenturePhilanthropyGuide.org, is surveying the nonprofit sector’s awareness of ‘social finance’. Fundraisers and charity staff in the USA, Canada, Europe and elsewhere are invited to share their views in an online questionnaire.

In partnership with Canada’s CharityVillage.com, van Bentum aims to explore the sector’s awareness of social finance, the “emerging hybrid world of business and philanthropy”. She aims to quantify its effect on charities’ operations, charity staff’s information needs in this area, and examples of “great work that you’ve seen being done in this area”.

Van Bentum defines social finance as “sustainable finance including community investing, social enterprise finance, micro-lending, sustainable business, and philanthropic program-related investments (PRIs)”.
