BEN appoints new Chief Executive

David Main has been appointed as the Chief Executive at BEN, the automotive industry charity. He is currently Chief Executive of the Civil Service Benevolent Fund and will take over from Christopher Macgowan, who is acting as Interim Chief Executive, on 26 January 2009.
Main qualified as an accountant before joining the BOC Group where he headed up the UK healthcare operation. In 1997 he was appointed the first non-lawyer Chief Executive of a regional law firm before joining the Civil Service Benevolent Fund, his first move into the charity sector.
