The International Journal of Not-for-Profit Law

The latest edition of the (free, quarterly) newsletter of The International Journal of Not-for-Profit Law (www.icnl.org) features a number of articles looking at various aspects of charity law in Europe. If you are looking for “A Comparative Overview of Public Benefit Status in Europe” or want to look into Financial Reporting in European not-for-profit organisations (NPOs), this could be a good starting point. The article on Financial Reporting in European NPOs uses the UK, Spain, and Italy as examples. Another article reports that in 2007 2/3 of European Foundation Centre members worked across borders and were active outside their country of origin. The same article also reports that in nine countries (Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden), over 40% of foundations were established during the last ten years. Is a European Foundation Statute needed “in order to operate effectively with optimal impact on public good”? Check out the newsletter for a view.
You can download articles, and search for previous issues. I think that it’s a good resource for researching international charities, and is even quite interesting, at times!
