Twestival takes place tomorrow

Tomorrow is Twestival Day, a world-wide fundraising festival made possible by Twitter. Events will take place in over 175 cities, all raising funds and awareness for charity:water, which works to bring safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
The whole campaign is run by volunteers who use Twitter and other social media to collaborate, publicise and handle some of the donations.

This is the second Twestival, following the initial success of the one held in September 2008 in London.
One tool they use is to publish a ‘Water Cloud’ where donors’ Twitter names appear, with a link to their Twitter profile. The bigger the donation the bigger the donor’s name appears. Only donations of $20 or more qualify for this. The top 100 or so donors will be immortalised on a t-shirt, which can also be bought to raise funds.
You can of course follow Twestival on Twitter.
We should soon get a good idea of how powerful a fundraising tool Twitter can be in the hands of volunteer fundraisers.
