No downturn in individual giving in Scotland, say senior fundraisers

Senior fundraisers in Scotland meeting at the Institute of Fundraising Scotland’s Heads and Directors’ Forum report that they have not experienced the drop in individual giving that has been experienced elsewhere in the UK.

The forum is a network of senior Institute members across Scotland who meet to discuss issues of shared interest. Some of those present expressed concerns about corporate and sponsorship fundraising, but “there was a cautious agreement that individual giving continues to grow on previous years”, according to the Institute.

Forum Chair John Brady of Sense Scotland said: “We have all read the now regular reports and research indicating drops in individual giving but Institute members on the ground in Scotland have yet to see this downturn.

“Members are certainly cautious about what the future holds, but none were able to verify drops in individual income for their organisations. This indicates a far more positive picture than other reports but we continue to be diligent in the stewardship of regular donors, as well as putting plenty energy into the continuing recruitment of new donors.”
