30th International Fundraising Congress announced for October 2010

This will be the 30th International Fundraising Congress, and it marks the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Resource Alliance.
Each year, the Resource Alliance has brought together fundraisers from around the globe to learn, share, debate and network at the IFC. This year’s event will both look back at how the sector has evolved to meet challenges over 30 years, and look ahead, examining fundraising innovations and the latest thinking across all fundraising disciplines.
Global capacity-building charity the Resource Alliance has announced that this year’s International Fundraising Congress (IFC) will take place from 19-22 October 2010 at NH Leeuwenhorst Hotel in Holland.

“We need to be communicators, planners, strategists, leaders, accountants, innovators and risk managers. Even when things get tough, we have to try to hold on to our optimism so we can continue to inspire and connect with potential donors about the causes we work for.
“That’s why I feel that the IFC is so important. It’s not just a case of picking up new techniques and learning, but of reminding ourselves of the fundamental principles we work to, that there is a global community of people – just like us – facing similar professional challenges and often dealing with those issues in a very different way”.

This year’s event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 fundraisers from over 40 countries. The programme features over 40 workshops, 14 six-and-a-half-hour masterclasses (6.5 hours), and a series of five ‘Big Room’ challenging sessions that will feature insights, case studies and predictions in five key areas of fundraising practice. There will also be the exhibition suite featuring fundraising consultants and suppliers, and a busy schedule of networking and social events programme.
Tony Elischer, Managing Director of Think Consulting Solutions and an IFC volunteer for most of the event’s 30 years, will be presenting the opening plenary. Work is underway to make this a striking session in which leading sector experts will present headline developments from across the world (both within and beyond the sector) that have made fundraising what it is today.
