Irish gas offers grants worth €100,000

Irish gas company Bord Gais is marking the arrival of its one millionth customer by creating a fund of €100,000 to give to community initiatives.
Bord Gáis Energy is looking for Not-For-Profit projects to apply for energy funding from the Community Energy Fund. €100,000 in energy grants has been made available, one grant of €25,000, five of €10,000 and ten of €2,500 worth of energy awarded to successful applicants of the Community Energy Fund.
Bord Gáis Energy wants to hear people’s stories of how their project will be energised to reach its potential and be enhanced by receiving funding from the Community Energy Fund.
Applications for the Community Energy Fund are available now from local Public Libraries nationwide and downloadable online from www.bordgaisenergy.ie. Applications close on Wednesday 16th June 2010.
Speaking about reaching the milestone of one million customers at the launch of the Community Energy Fund, John Mullins, C.E.O. Bord Gáis, said; ‘We are grateful to all our customers, both gas and electricity, for being with Bord Gáis Energy. We wanted to share our success by giving something back to the very communities that support us, that is why we have established the Community Energy Fund. We want to recognise and energise local projects so they can continue delivering their services and doing the good work in their community by providing energy funding.’
