New online advertising platform annot8 is helping charities generate a share of income from their supporters’ web activities. Users browse the web with the annot8 plug-in installed, which shows adverts and content relevant to the page they are viewing. If the user clicks on an advert, the company shares its revenue with them at the rate of 1p per click. Four charities are currently listed for participants to support.

Annot8 point out that online advertising is growing rapidly with £38 billion spent last year.

Steve WestonSteve Weston, founder of annot8, explained how the company’s model was different to other online advertisers. He said: “We offer flat rate cost per click (removing expensive bidding wars on popular keyword phrases), we have a “create once, display on any relevant website” approach (our adverts appear consistently on any relevant website in the world) and we share our revenue with everyone who uses annot8”.
