Pony Up: combining donating via utility bills and demonstrating impact

Howard Lake | 5 September 2013 | Blogs

Pony Up is the result of a three-day project by students at Hyper Island in Sweden working with SOS-Barnbyar. It combines the frictionless fundraising element of making top-up donations while paying a bill (via mobile and QR codes note), and donating to a charity in recognition of a completed project.

The students were tasked with considering how to improve fundraising in the future. Pony Up was their solution, designed to tackle the public's desire to see how their money is used and the impact it can achieve, and to make giving as easy as possible.

Provided there is no suggestion that the donations will be used to fund a completed and presumably fully-funded project, then this idea would seem sound: demonstrating impact and asking at an appropriate moment are two fundamental elements of good fundraising.

What do you think of their solution?
