Big Lottery in NI seeks ‘accelerating ideas’

Big Lottery in Northern Ireland has announced details of its new ‘Accelerating Ideas’ funding programme.
The grantmaker reports that Accelerating Ideas will allow it to support the development of “great ideas” and build on good practice across Northern Ireland. Accelerating Ideas marks a change in Big’s grant making approach by moving away from applications that are only paper-based to something that is “more engaging and conversational”.
Projects supported will develop and use successful approaches to tackling local issues in communities and increase the impact of projects funded by Big or others.
Also in a departure from previous practice, the organisation will be publishing information about the conversations its staff are having and ideas that they are hoping to support on their website, and will ask for feedback on them.
Proposals supported must do one or more of the following:
• Address some of the most complex and intractable social issues
• Adopt and adapt tried and tested approaches across issues and communities in Northern Ireland
• Increase the impact of projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund or other funders in Northern Ireland
• Have significant roles for Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise Organisations and for beneficiary communities
You can find out more about Accelerating Ideas from Big Lottery in Northern Ireland.
