UKCF launches UK-wide flood appeal

Melanie May | 8 January 2016 | News

UK Community Foundations (UKCF) has launched a UK-wide appeal to help all the regions affected by this winter’s floods.
The money raised by its Winter Flood Recovery Appeal will be distributed to the UKCF’s member community foundations to be used where needed.
A number of these foundations in areas affected by the floods have already set up their own appeals. According to UKCF, Cumbria and Lancashire Community Foundations have so far raised more than £4,000,000 working together, including Government match funding of £1,000,000. The Government has also pledged to match every pound of the first £2 million raised in the wake of Christmas’s Storm Eva.
Fabian French, CEO of UK Community Foundations said:

“Community foundations in the areas affected by the floods are already carrying out crucial work. In the long-term, community foundations will also provide grants for rebuilding projects. It is vital that we do all we possibly can to channel funds to the relevant community foundations where they can do the most good.”
