York event announced to discuss how fundraising needs to change

The Commission on the Donor Experience is holding its first event for fundraisers to gather ideas and contributions on how fundraising best practice can be achieved and shared.
The Commission, which is supported by a group of around 60 volunteer ‘enthusiasts’ – fundraisers who support its aims – is intended to review how best to put the donor at the heart of charity fundraising.
It was established in the wake of the media and political criticism of some fundraising activities by some charities during 2015. Its formation was welcomed in the Etherington Review.
The event, to be held in central York on 4 March, is open to fundraisers and there is no charge to attend, although a £15 voluntary donation to cover costs is requested. It is for those who think fundraising needs to change. The discussions will be fed into the Commission’s deliberations.
The event will take an informal and practical approach to sharing information and is inspired by the Open Space approach. It will be facilitated by Howard Lake, founder of Fundraising Camp.

The event is designed to make progress on developing best practice around a number of areas:

Delegates are especially encouraged to share details of what their organisations’ donors are saying needs to change.
Booking is open now for the afternoon event.
Further similar events are expected to take place.
