Fundraiser appointed CEO at UCanDoIT

Samantha Barber has been appointed CEO of UCanDoIT, the charity that provides IT training for disabled people. She joins from veterans’ charity Stoll where she was in charge of fundraising.
Barber will be just the third chief executive in the charity’s 20 year history. She will take over from Mary Payne who is retiring.
The charity, supported by a core team of five staff and sixty tutors, provides IT training to hundreds of disabled people in their own home every year.
As Director of External Relations at Stoll, Barber led a team of nine and took the charity from an annual fundraising income of £200,000 to £12 million over five years. In her 20-year career in the charity sector she has also held roles with Shelter and the Social Care Institute for Excellence.
Samantha Barber said:
“Technology is a great enabler – if you have the equipment and know how to use it. Given the barriers to employment and social exclusion that some disabled people experience, the service UCanDoIT provides is vital in helping more and more disabled people lead independent lives. I am looking forward to working with colleagues, tutors and users to widen the reach of our service across the country and help ensure more and more disabled people take the steps to being tech independent.”
