Philanthropist Getty dies

Sir John Paul Getty Jr, the billionaire philanthropist, has died aged 70.

During his lifetime he gave around £120 million to charitable and political causes. These included the families of striking miners in 1985, the Conservative Party, the National Gallery, the British Film Institute, local football and cricket clubs, and individuals such as the concert pianist who needed to practise on a grand piano.
