Corporate directors research more difficult

Howard Lake | 22 April 2003 | News

Fundraising researchers are going to find it a little more difficult to research business leaders.

The Observer reports that 1,852 British directors of companies have successfully applied to have their home addresses removed from their listing on the Companies House register.

They had applied to the Government under the amended Companies Act on the grounds that their business activities exposed them to the threat of physical assault. Their addresses disappear from the register for five years, after which the decision is reviewed.

Of course directors can still be reached via their company’s official addresses, but home addresses of directors can prove very useful to prospect researchers seeking to link networks of contacts, or to identify key individuals in a certain geographical location.
