Cancer Research UK encourages bridge players to raise funds

Howard Lake | 14 October 2003 | News

BRIDGE players across the country are being invited to ‘Bid for Life’ in a new fundraising event raising money for Cancer Research UK.

To get involved, all people have to do is hold a Bid for Life game of bridge, asking each player to make a donation to Cancer Research UK.

The event is being backed by bridge star Andrew Robson. Everyone who hosts a Bid for Life party will be entered into a draw to win the first prize of an Andrew Robson Bridge Holiday for two in Mallorca, in May 2004.

Bid for Life kicks off on Sunday 26 October 2003, which is the last day of British summertime, and ends five months later on 28 March 2004, when summertime starts again.

The campaign includes an unusual recipe book called The Kitchen Bridge Cook Book. Inside are recipes and suggested menus, including Grand Slam Goulash, Club Sandwiches and Chocolate d’Eclarer. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards the Bid for Life fundraising total.
