Kage publishes annual fundraising salary survey

Fundraising recruitment specialists the Kage Partnership have have published their fifth annual salary survey.
The survey confirmed that average salaries for fundraisers have increased over the past year in most job categories reflecting annual pay reviews as would be expected in most organisations. However, the wide range of salaries advertised reflects the disparity in pay between organisations in the sector and vacancies at the lower end of the range: these will often remain unfilled or the employer may have to settle for less experienced applicants.
In addition, the survey revealed that fundraisers can also drop below average salary levels when a promotion is given and additional responsibilities are taken on without an appropriate increase in pay.

Kage conclude that charities that pay below average for the voluntary sector can expect a higher rate of staff turnover and unfilled vacancies.
The report is based on advertised salaries for fundraising vacancies from over 130 London charities. It found that Heads of Fundraising can earn between £32,000 – £50,000, with the average being £38,500. At Manager levels, on average Communications Managers earned slightly more than Community Fundraising Managers and Direct Marketing Managers, although some Corporate Fundraising Manager positions were advertised at the even higher level of £40,000.
