Howard Lake | 6 February 2014 | News

Supermarket Lidl has extended its charity partnership with CLIC Sargent with a three-year commitment and a pledge to raise £1 million.
Its current 15-month partnership with the cancer charity for children and young people has already raised £358,000, more than double its original target. This income was generated through activities including company donations of £20,000 on sales of mini-muffins in March, and a Christmas mini-stollen bites campaign which raised £12,000.
The new three-year campaign will involve fundraising events, individual staff challenges, and donations from sales of goods.

Support for fundraising

Lidl UK also sponsors CLIC Sargent’s schools fundraising programme, allowing thecharity to supply fundraising materials and support to schools at no net cost.
Lorraine Clifton, CLIC Sargent Chief Executive, said: “The original target was £150,000 but through determination and hard work Lidl ended up raising an incredible £358,900. We are delighted at the success so far and are very much looking forward to the next three years.”
