National Fundraising Convention’s theme is ‘Best You Can Be’

The theme of the 2015 National Fundraising Convention, the Institute of Fundraising’s annual conference, is ‘Best You Can Be’.
Following on from last year’s theme of ‘proud to be a fundraiser’ or #proudfundraiser, this year’s theme has two objectives:
• to inspire fundraisers to achieve personal success
• enable charities to create an environment in which fundraisers can excel
The convention theme will focus on the personal fundraising journeys of Institute members, examining how they have grown and developed in their careers, and highlighting some of the experiences that have made them successful fundraisers today.

Liz Tait, Director of Fundraising at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, is chair of the National Fundraising Convention Board this year. She said:

“Our charities are only as strong and vibrant as our fundraisers, so to maximise our impact we need our fundraisers to be at the top of their game. If fundraisers aim to be the best they can be, and are enabled to excel, we will ultimately build a better world for the beneficiaries we are here to serve.”

Peter Lewis, Chief Executive at the Institute of Fundraising explained that ‘Best You Can Be‘ reflects the organisation’s efforts to create a movement of excellence. Last month, for example, it sought advice from the Privy Council as part of its plans to become a Chartered Body.
As National Convention approaches the Institute will be sharing details of member case studies, videos, small events and academy courses all inspired by being Best You Can Be.

Keynote speaker

The keynote speaker at this year’s National Fundraising Convention will be Daryl Upsall, the international fundraising expert, whose fundraising career included raising funds for the ANC’s election campaign following Nelson Mandela’s release, and leading Greenpeace’s fundraising as International Fundraising Director.

Sharing Best You Can Be

As with #proudfundraiser, the Institute is inviting fundraisers to share their own stories of what ‘being the best’ means to them via social media using the hashtag #BestYouCanBe. They have produced a range of images for fundraisers to share via Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
• The early bird discount for National Convention ends on 24 April.
