Millionaires no longer make it onto Forbes 400

Howard Lake | 24 September 2006 | News

Having more than a million dollars these days just isn’t enough, it seems, if you wish to make it onto the Forbes 400 list. The minimum entry level is now one billion dollars.

For the first time since it was set up in 1982 Forbes magazine’s list of the wealthiest Americans includes not one millionaire. All 400 are billionaires, with a combined wealth of $1.25 trillion.

New York and California have the lion’s share of billionaires, with 44 and 90 respectively, but 10 of the 50 states in the USA have no billionaires.
