Prostate Cancer UK seeks pubs to become Men United Arms fundraisers

Melanie May | 31 August 2016 | News

This September Prostate Cancer UK is asking pubs to hold a fundraising event for the charity, with a competition to become its favourite local of the year.
The Men United Arms campaign invites pubs to apply for a free fundraising pack or a quiz pack, which includes an eight-round quiz, host script, questions and answer sheets plus pin badges and collection tins, and hold an event during September to raise money for the charity.
Pubs that raise over £200 will also receive extra branded materials, including a banner, t-shirts, drip mats and Prostate Cancer UK pin-badges to help them turn their pub into the ‘Men United Arms’.
Pubs that sign up to become Men United Arms also compete to become the charity’s favourite local of the year, with the top five fundraising pubs that have paid in the money raised by 5pm on Friday 14th October being shortlisted and receiving free local PR and social media promotion to the charity’s supporters and pub goers in their area.

The shortlisted pubs must then explain to the charity why they should become its favourite local of 2016 ‘by demonstrating innovation, customer engagement and commitment to raising awareness of prostate cancer’.
The winning pub will be announced in the week beginning 7th November 2016 and named Prostate Cancer UK’s favourite local of 2016. The prize includes a personalised framed Men United shirt, a story on the charity’s website promoted on social media, and a press release distributed to local and trade media.
Pubs can sign up on the Men United Arms page of the Prostate Cancer UK site.
