CAF distributes record £300 million to charities

Last year Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) distributed £300 million in tax-efficient donations to over 30,000 charities, according to its year end results for 2005/2006. This was a record sum for the charity which provides a range of financial services and products for charities.
The rise in tax-efficient donations was accompanied by a 37% increase in donations via charitable trusts, charities’ bank deposits with CAF topping £1 billion, and investments in the CAF UK Equitrack Fund passing the £200 million mark.
According to the report, CAF now works with 80% of the FTSE 100, and last year advised directly on the distribution of £14.5 million to charities. More than 500,000 employees across the UK take advantage of CAF’s Give as You Earn service.

During 2005/06 CAF embarked on a number of major new partnerships. ‘Revealing the Foundations’, the first in a series of research partnerships, looked at the contribution corporate foundations can and do make to corporate giving and corporate responsibility. It also launched CaSE Insurance (Charity and Social Enterprise Insurance Management LLP), a partnership dedicated to providing insurance exclusively for charities and social enterprises.
The year also saw CAF’s Charity Financial Services Division became the first charity to win the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
The results were announced on the same day that John Low took up his duties as the new Chief Executive of CAF.
