BAA Heathrow chooses Marie Curie Cancer Care as charity of the year

Howard Lake | 25 July 2007 | News

BAA Heathrow today announced a 12 month campaign to support Marie Curie Cancer Care as it launched its new charity of the year scheme.

The campaign, which is named, ‘Destination: 5,000 hours of care’ aims to raise £100,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care through a programme of staff fund raising events, passenger collections and promotions. This will enable Marie Curie Cancer Care to provide 5,000 hours of community nursing around the Heathrow area to provide end-of-life care for patients in their own homes.

Marie Curie Cancer Care was selected as Heathrow’s first charity of the year and is a key part of BAA’s community relations programme. Heathrow’s 5,000 staff were invited to nominate charities that were close to their hearts and the final selection was put to a vote, with Marie Curie Cancer Care winning the poll.
