After studying geology and then computing at university, I finally entered gainful employment back in the ’80s at the computer and communications company Logica (now LogicaCMG). After a couple of years of systems design and development I shifted across into the marketing team there, and have been involved in marketing – and more specifically direct and digital marketing – ever since.
A year spent with World Vision in the early ’90s began my special interest in fundraising and, after some time at a specialist technology marketing agency, eventually led me to work for two fundraising specialist direct marketing agencies – The Domain Group and Whitewater.
In 2006, after six years as Whitewater’s Planning Director, I moved to the London office of WWAV Rapp Collins as a Planning Partner – where I now get to work with a range of charity clients as well as on commercial brands.
My computing background and unashamed love of all things digital (well, nearly all) has led to me being one of the agency’s digital evangelists – and is why I came to be asked to contribute to fundraising.co.uk through this blog.
