The Synergy Group Pub Quiz reaches exciting dance off climax and raises £10,000 for Macmillan

Howard Lake | 11 July 2006 | Newswire

As part of their on-going commitment to Macmillan Cancer Support, recruitment and training company The Synergy Group held an employee pub quiz and in doing so, smashed their £10,000 fundraising target well ahead of schedule!
The Synergy Group chose cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Support as their Charity of the Year earlier in the year with the aim of raising £10,000 in 12 months however their enthusiasm has been such that they have already shattered their target!
Alex Price, team captain of ‘The Taxidermists’ commented: ‘We weren’t the best team on the night, but importantly we were the luckiest! This was a superbly organised event and all credit to The Synergy Group’s charity committee for making it the best, non-televised, quiz of the year.”
The highlight of the evening was the music round which featured a ‘dance off’ between four slick movers who had to dance to four different tracks and receive marks out of ten from their fellow quizers. The dance off was deservedly won by Jayne , who impressed with her offbeat moves.
Daniel Hanlon, Director of The Synergy Group and Quizmaster for the evening, commented: “With our auction in March raising £5,000, and then our pub quiz taking us up to £10,000 we’re really delighted with all our employees for getting behind our fundraising for Macmillan. We’ve got lots more fundraising events planned for the next 8 months and we’re all looking forward to getting involved!”.
Jason Suckley, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan, commented: “We’re extremely grateful to The Synergy Group for throwing themselves into their fundraising and hitting their £10,000 target already! Macmillan relies on voluntary donations for the majority of their income and corporate support makes up a significant part of that so to have a company like Synergy raising money so enthusiastically is fantastic. The money will help Macmillan to provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care’.
In addition to fundraising for Macmillan, as part of their commitment to the local and wider community, The Synergy Group also offer voluntary support to community-based organisations, with team and individual events taking place throughout the year.
