1,000 Fundraisers Trained in Tax-Effective Giving Techniques

Howard Lake | 30 March 2007 | Newswire

The Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) today announces that it has reached its target of training 1,000 fundraisers in tax-effective giving methods. The 1,000th delegate was trained at a bespoke in-house training workshop at Scope on Friday 23rd March.
To date, the Institute has held 56 tax-effective giving workshops as part of its tax-effective giving training programme, training an average of 18 delegates per workshop. The next phase of the project is to commence in April and will involve 12 publicly available training workshops, 12 partnered workshops involving local voluntary service councils and a further 12 bespoke in-house training days. Research shows that 50% of those who have engaged with the Institute’s tax-effective giving training programme and helpline service have already seen an increase in their income as a direct result.
The Institute’s tax-effective giving programme has also included the production of practical resources, including an information guide Making Giving Go Further, website and dedicated helpline, and the creation of a tightly focused PR and marketing campaign to encourage best practice within charities of all sizes.
Lee Grant, Tax-Effective Giving Project Manager at the Institute of Fundraising, comments:
The Institute of Fundraising is delighted to have reached our target of training 1,000 individuals through our Active Communities Directorate funded tax-effective giving initiative. This achievement is a milestone of our project. We are now keen to build on our success by assisting more charities to register for and claim Gift Aid for the first time, as well as promoting best practice to those already using tax-effective giving to further increase their income.
Louise Jagger, Head of Voluntary Fundraising at Scope, comments:
“The Institute’s tax-effective giving training has been extremely valuable to Scope. There’s now greater awareness amongst the fundraising team as to how we can maximise giving, using tax-effective opportunities and processes.
“The course materials were excellent, including ‘The Tax-Effective Giving Workbook’ and ‘Making Giving Go Further: The Definitive Guide to Tax-Effective Giving’, both of which will prove invaluable reference sources throughout Scope.”
