Scottish charity Quarriers crosses the border

Howard Lake | 2 April 2007 | Newswire

Scottish charity Quarriers is about to launch its first ever fundraising appeal in England with a campaign developed by incumbent agency Burnett Works.
Quarriers is one of the largest social care charities in Scotland and provides nearly 130 services to local communities. At the Quarriers Beaumonds residential short-break home in Bath, the charity plans to develop a sensory garden for children with learning disabilities. Quarriers has already been chosen as ‘Charity of the Year’ by Bath FM radio station who will host a radio auction in mid-April.
The campaign identity developed by Burnett Works centres on an overarching theme, ‘The Magic Garden’, which has been applied to a suite of toolkit materials designed to support local fundraisers. These include a microsite, posters, flyers and press advertisements.
Morag Fleming, Head of Individual Giving at Quarriers, commented, Burnett Works took on this job at short notice and we are delighted with the material they have produced. The inherent flexibility of the toolkit will allow us to adapt our marketing to suit a wide range of different events.”
The Magic Garden name aims to convey the experience that children will have in the garden and the strapline ‘Quarriers – where our disabled children can flourish’ has been conceived to work not just for this appeal, but also for future appeals in the area. Individual events, such as the auction and a Halloween ball, are being labelled ‘The Unusually Good’ in order to give them stand-out value and, again, this label will be used for future Quarriers events in the area. Graphic imagery links to the garden theme – butterflies reflect the movement of the children around the garden as they alight on different things that attract them, while a beanstalk is being used as an appeal totaliser in various contexts.
