National Awards Ceremony Celebrates Excellence in UK Fundraising

Last night, (Monday 9 July 2007), the vital role performed by UK fundraisers was celebrated at a national awards ceremony at the Hilton London Metropole. Hosted by BBC Breakfast’s Chris Hollins, the Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) National Awards were presented by a selection of the most influential and well-respected fundraisers and figureheads from across the sector to an audience of more than 800 people.
Four awards recognised those individuals that have made a substantial impact within their organisation and throughout the sector. They are:
– Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year – Ken Deeks, NCH
– Best Up and Coming Fundraiser – Deborah Roe, Head of Fundraising, Scottish Spina Bifida Association
– Fundraiser of the Year – Nichola Betts, Head of National Events, CLIC Sargent
– Lifetime Contribution Award – Ken Burnett
A further eleven awards rewarded organisations that have run particularly successful fundraising events or campaigns, as below:
– Best E-Media Campaign – Work Place Giving UK
– Best Direct Mail Fundraising Campaign – Royal United Hospital, Bath (The Forever Friends Appeal)
– Best Telephone Campaign – British Red Cross
– Best Local/ Regional Campaign – Sense Scotland (Making It Happen)
– Best Business-Charity Partnership – Burton and the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK
– Best Donor Acquisition Campaign – Faber Maunsell Ltd
– Best Face-to-Face – Arcadia Group
– Best Donor Development Campaign – ORBIS and RSPB (joint winners)
– Most Innovative Fundraising Campaign – Barnardo’s Scotland (Store Wars)
– Fundraising Team of the Year – Development Department, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
– Best Fundraising Charity to Work For – Sue Ryder Care
