An ROI calculator for social network campaigns

Howard Lake | 29 February 2008 | Blogs

You know that Facebook and other social networking sites look a likely source of new donors and a good way to communicate with existing supporters. But can you justify the time spent building up your presence there?
Now (or rather since July 2007 when it was first published) charities have a free tool to help them do just that. Justin Perkins Social Network ROI Calculator helps you “calculate an estimate of cost and return on investment for the recruitment and fundraising efforts of your staff in social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace”.
Describing it as “like an online mortgage calculator”, you enter your assumptions in the clearly labelled yellow fields, and then click ‘update’ for the results.
The tool was published on Frogloop, the nonprofit communications and marketing blog at US online environmental community site Care2.com.
