(Worldwide) Major Companies Directories 2009

The (free!) May 2009 Newsletter City Business Library has just been issued, and it lists a number of new publications, including “Major Companies Directories 2009”. The latest editions cover Western, Central & Eastern Europe, Asia & Australasia, the Arab world, Africa South of the Sahara and Latin American & the Caribbean. The companies are listed geographically and by business activity. Entries include contact details – telephone and fax numbers, at least one contact name, with basic financial data or employee numbers.
The British Library also has an interesting range of books, as well as databases, covering various parts of the world. However, while the City Business Library organise introductory sessions, telling people how they can use their resources for business purposes, staff at The British Library don’t seem to be quite so encouraging, and some of the databases state that they cannot be used for business purposes (even though they are in the business section!
Hmm, it is probably time I mentioned some of the resources available at libraries outside London. Watch this space
