Virgin Money has today launched Virgin Money Giving, its online fundraising service for charities.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Chief Executive of Virgin Money said: “Virgin Money is using its infrastructure and expertise as a financial services business to ensure that the new service is efficient, secure and offers a high quality service to all fundraisers, charities and donors. With over £0.25 billion forecast to be raised for charity by London Marathon runners in the five years that Virgin sponsors the race this is clearly critically important.”

Virgin Money reports that it has invested over £3 million in the launch, with charities being able to register on the site since 25 August.

Virgin Money Giving operates as a not-for-profit business, and is promoting this status together with low fees to gain market share from existing providers such as Bmycharity, AltaContact and JustGiving.

Virginmoneygiving.com charges a flat £100 + VAT registration fee for charities and a 2% fee on all donations before Gift Aid. This means that for every £10 donation charities will receive £12.46.

Commenting on the launch, Scott Jacobson, Director of Marketing & Fundraising at St John Ambulance said: “Virgin Money Giving has gone the extra mile by being not-for-profit, meaning that charities take home more of the funds raised, helping us move closer to our charitable aims.”

Virginmoneygiving.com is the official sponsorship website of the Virgin London Marathon, Royal Parks Half Marathon and Sony ‘Run to the Beat’.
