JustGiving offers 10 data grants to charities

Howard Lake | 14 October 2010 | News

Online donations site JustGiving is to give away 10 ‘data grants’ to charity members between now and Christmas, providing them with free advice from data expert Anthony Fawkes.
Selected charities will receive practical advice from Fawkes, who has over 10 years’ experience in data-driven marketing (including five years as a Database Marketing Manager for a charity), on using the JustGiving data app, designed to help charities cut down the time they spend on processing data. He will install the application, make sure it works with the charity’s database and reporting requirements, and give charity staff the necessary training.
The JustGiving data app uses Microsoft Access and requires charities to take a number of simple steps to take data from JustGiving to import into their donor database. Justgiving said that “it will be most useful to your charity if you don’t currently have your own automated system in place”.
To be eligible, charities need to have a database which you use to manage your donors’ and fundraisers’ records; need to be using Justgiving’s custom codes; and need to be recording the donation against the fundraiser, not the donor.
The deadline for the first wave of applications is 29 October 2010.
