North Face creates fund for outdoor youth organisations

Outdoor clothing specialists The North Face have launched The North Face Explore Fund™, an annual pan-European grantmaking initiative to support non-profit community organisations whose goals are to encourage youth participation outdoors.
The fund aims to inspire and enable the next generation of explorers by supporting organisations and initiatives that work to connect young people with nature, and provide education for individual and environmental health.
Organisations can apply online for up to €2,500 (approx £2,170) of financial support. Applications are open until 8 August 2011.
The European fund has developed from The North Face Planet Explore™ which was established in the USA in 2010.
Eric Pansier, Marketing Director The North Face EMEA, said: “At The North Face, we believe in the physical, emotional and social benefits of a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle. A strong connection with the outdoors will lead to greater support and protection of our natural landscapes. The North Face Explore Fund is a natural extension to reach directly the young generation in whose hands lie the future of our environment.”
The North Face Explore Fund ambassador, Simone Moro, world-renowned Italian alpinist, added: “We need not only a virtual life but also the possibility to feel real, authentic, sensorial sensations through nature and the planet. The North Face Explore Fund is an instrument to help children and young adults be in perfect balance with nature and discover the world around them.”
