RBS Group ATMs start accepting charitable donations

Users of RBS Group ATMs (cash machines) will be able to donate to charity from this week. Over 8,000 ATMs and cash deposit machines are being enabled to accept donations. The facility is available to all RBS Group customers and other LINK debit card customers.
Customers can donate from £1 to £150 with the full amount being received by the selected charity: the bank does not make any handling charges.
Eight charities have been chosen to benefit from the scheme. The charities were selected following “a comprehensive review which took into consideration the most popular causes and charities in the UK”. They include Cancer Research UK, Barnardos, RNIB, Age UK, Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), Oxfam, and Children In Need.
Regional preferences have also been taken into consideration with additional local options available. These include the STV appeal in Scotland, RSPCA in England and the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children. The scheme will run initially for 14 months and is subject to periodic review.
Gift Aid is not possible yet but it is, according to RBS Group, being explored at present.
RBS cash machines will accept donations from today, with ATMs from other parts of the group, including NatWest, Coutts, Isle of Man Bank, and Ulster Bank Northern Ireland, becoming available soon.
