BBC Radio Devon seeks local charity for its 30th anniversary appeal

Howard Lake | 9 November 2012 | News

BBC Radio Devon will celebrate 30 years of broadcasting next year and it is looking for a local charity to support during the year. It is seeking applications from a charity that benefits local people and serves the county.

The partnership will begin in January 2013 and run throughout the year.

The radio station has a track record of charitable support, with listeners having raised millions of pounds for its charity appeals over the years. For example, in 2010/11 it partnered with the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and raised over £800,000.

In addition Radio Devon supports other charitable appeals through BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief.

In particular they are looking to work with a charity that can deliver a grantmaking campaign. Their application advice states: "Unlike previous appeals when we have focussed on one single fundraising appeal we think the best way to mark our 30 years serving the county is to find ways to give grants to all sorts of different organisations and community groups across the county who are in need".

Consequently, "the successful appeal partner will have a track record in delivering community grants and managing the selection of beneficiaries across the county".

The deadline for applications is 16 November 2012.
